West Bromwich Albion has confirmed that defender Semi Ajayi will be facing a period of absence, sidelined for several weeks due to a hamstring injury, a much displeasing news to Super Eagles head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda next month, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

This unfortunate setback occurred during the team's recent 2-0 victory against Oxford United where Ajayi was compelled to leave the field in the 41st minute of the match.

The central defender, a crucial component of Albion's defensive line will now embark on a comprehensive rehabilitation program. The focus of this program will be to facilitate a full and effective recovery, enabling him to return to competitive action before the current season reaches its conclusion.

The club's medical staff will be working closely with Ajayi to ensure he receives the necessary care and support during this recovery period. This news will be a disappointment to both the club and its fans as Semi Ajayi is a very valuable member of the team.
