U-17WWCQ: Flamingos dispatch Bantwana to reach final hurdle

Nigeria U-17 Women National team secured their in the final round of the U-17 Women World Cup Qualifiers after completing the double over South Africa on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Flamingos defeated the Bantwana 2-0 to win 5-1 on aggregate  at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne courtesy of goals from Harmony Chidi and Aishat Animashaun at both halves of the game.

Two-goal heroine in the first leg, Harmony Chidi coolly nodded home from an acute angle in the 37th minute, to compound the fixture for the visitors who lost the first leg at home 1-3.

Shakirat Moshood, who scored a goal in the first leg, was the provider from a well-taken free kick on the right. She turned provider again 11 minutes into the second half, when she found Aishat Animashaun, who lifted the ball over and above Samekelise Mthembu into the net for Nigeria’s second.

The Flamingos are through to the third and final qualifying round and will face either Botswana or Algeria in April for a spot at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
