Tottenham have made clear they would reject any attempt to sign Lucas Bergvall, despite continued interest from Barcelona.
The Sweden international chose Tottenham over Barcelona in 2024, but the LaLiga champions have continued to monitor his development in North London. Barcelona could consider making an offer for the 20-year-old in 2027, while there is also speculation over a possible move in January.
Bergvall signed a contract extension with Tottenham in September 2026, only three months after asking to leave the club. His request followed concerns about limited playing time after a summer of significant spending under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
According to reports, Barcelona are considering a bid of €67M. However, Football Insider says Tottenham will block any proposal designed to take Bergvall away from English football.
The uncertainty surrounding his future comes as Bergvall has made only two Premier League starts during the 2026/27 season. New midfield additions Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have been given more opportunities in Tottenham's engine room, leaving Bergvall with a reduced role.
Despite that lack of regular starts, Tottenham’s position means Barcelona’s interest is unlikely to lead to a transfer unless the Premier League club changes its stance.
