Nigeria’s Super Falcons reached the third round of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualifier with a 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg in Ikenne on Tuesday.
The result completed a 7-0 aggregate success for the former African champions, who had already established a strong advantage from the first meeting.
Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu both scored twice, while Christy Ucheibe also found the net as Nigeria produced a commanding performance.
Gift Monday missed an early opportunity to open the scoring when she failed to convert a clear chance in the 10th minute.
Kanu then came close five minutes later, sending a left-footed effort against the crossbar before Comoros goalkeeper Aicha Said gathered the rebound.
Nigeria were forced into a change in the 29th minute when captain Rasheedat Ajibade went off injured. She was replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi.
Kanu struck the crossbar again six minutes before half-time, but the Super Falcons eventually made their pressure count when Payne opened the scoring.
The forward finished from Kanu’s assist after a costly error by Comoros goalkeeper Said gave Nigeria the opportunity.
Nigeria continued on the front foot after the interval and doubled their lead in the 58th minute. Kanu headed home a cross from Ijamilusi.
Kanu appeared to have scored again three minutes later, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Payne restored Nigeria’s momentum by adding her second goal in the 63rd minute. Substitute Blessing Okpe dribbled past two Comoros defenders before providing the assist for Payne to make it 3-0.
The Super Falcons added a fourth goal just three minutes later, with Kanu claiming her second of the match by heading in another Ijamilusi cross.
Okpe was involved again when Nigeria were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute after she was fouled inside the box.
Ucheibe converted from the spot to complete the 5-0 win and seal Nigeria’s passage into the next round of the Olympic qualifying competition.
