Sebastien Haller could be recalled to the Ivory Coast squad by manager Herve Renard as the Elephants look to strengthen their attack.
The technical staff are reportedly considering bringing back the striker after judging the performances of Ange-Yoan Bonny, Elye Wahi and Rayan Fofana to have been below the required standard.
Haller, a key figure in the Ivory Coast’s CAN 2023 triumph, is understood to be ready to return to international football. The former Borussia Dortmund forward has rediscovered his form and confidence in Japan and has reportedly made himself available for selection.
Several sources suggest an announcement could come soon, with Renard expected to include Haller in his squad for the November international break.
The potential recall would add experience and greater attacking efficiency to the Ivory Coast team, although no official decision has yet been confirmed.
