Sancho still without a club after Getafe talks fail over pay

Former England international Jadon Sancho has turned down a move to Getafe after failing to reach an agreement over wages with the Spanish club.

Getafe were interested in signing Sancho, but negotiations broke down because of the significant difference between the player’s financial expectations and the club’s initial offer. According to The Touchline, Sancho personally informed Getafe president Angel Torres of his decision.

The 26-year-old was seeking a salary of at least €3m, while Getafe’s first proposal was worth about €400,000. Although the Spanish club later increased its offer substantially, it was still unable to reach an agreement with Sancho.

Sancho left Manchester United in summer 2026 when his contract expired and has remained a free agent since.
