Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu has committed his future to Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv after signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The new agreement ends speculation over the former Super Eagles winger's future after he was linked with a move away from the club.
Fellow Bulgarian side Levski Sofia and several clubs in Switzerland had reportedly shown interest in signing Kalu, but Botev Plovdiv have moved decisively to secure his services on a long-term basis.
The 28-year-old joined the two-time Bulgarian champions last summer after leaving English Championship club Watford.
Kalu enjoyed a solid debut campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions while contributing two goals and earning praise for his pace, creativity and attacking threat from the wings.
Before his move to Bulgaria, the Nigerian international featured for Slovak club AS Tren?ín, Belgian side KAA Gent, French outfit Girondins Bordeaux and English club Watford.
At international level, Kalu has earned 17 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring two goals during his time with the national team.
By extending his stay until 2029, Botev Plovdiv have reaffirmed their confidence in the experienced winger as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
