Riyad Mahrez has reached a verbal agreement with Qatari club Al Shamal over a short-term contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Algeria international is a free agent after leaving Al Ahli this summer and is now expected to continue his career in Qatar. The final administrative formalities must still be completed before the move can be officially confirmed.
Unless there is an unexpected change, the 35-year-old will add Qatar to the list of countries in which he has played. Mahrez has previously featured in France, England and Saudi Arabia.
