Lazio came from behind to beat Cagliari 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico and move three points clear at the top of Serie A with a sixth consecutive victory.
M’Bala Nzola gave Cagliari the lead by sliding Alieu Fadera’s cross into the near post, scoring in his second successive appearance.
But Gustav Isaksen quickly restored parity, sweeping a fourth goal in five matches into the top corner after being picked out by Tijjani Noslin.
Andrea Pinamonti then headed in an 83rd-minute winner to complete Lazio’s comeback and send the home supporters into celebration. He was also named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.
The result means Lazio are unbeaten in their past 10 league games, winning nine and drawing one, and strengthens their position as Serie A title contenders.
Both sides created openings during an energetic start. Fadera fired narrowly wide after the ball rebounded to him in the penalty area, while Isaksen sent an effort over at the other end.
Cagliari goalkeeper Elia Caprile was soon tested. He saved from Davide Frattesi before making an even better stop to keep out Mattia Zaccagni’s attempt from the edge of the box.
Lazio’s pressure had suggested they might take control, but Nzola put the visitors ahead. It was the first time Lazio had fallen behind since matchday three.
They responded quickly, however, with Isaksen producing an excellent finish to level the contest.
Cagliari almost regained the lead before half-time when Jacopo Fazzini dragged a shot just wide. Lazio nevertheless maintained their record as the only Serie A side not to have been behind at the interval this season, with five wins and five draws in those matches.
The visitors resumed with greater attacking intent and came close again when Jose Pedro failed to make clean contact with a corner. The ball struck his shoulder and looped over the crossbar.
Christos Mandas then dealt with a deflected long-range effort from Michel Adopo, as Cagliari were unable to turn their second-half pressure into another goal.
Lazio continued to carry a threat. Caprile parried away Kenneth Taylor’s free-kick, and the midfielder later came close to completing a fine passing move when he side-footed just wide.
After city rivals Roma had beaten Cagliari on Tuesday, Lazio were determined to secure the same outcome. Their decisive moment finally arrived seven minutes from time.
Substitutes Alfonso Pedraza and Pinamonti combined in the area, with Pedraza delivering the ball for Pinamonti to head past Caprile.
Cagliari’s afternoon deteriorated further when Adam Obert was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Isaksen.
The defeat was Cagliari’s fourth in succession.
