The Osun State Football Association has finalised plans to host the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Confederation of African Football (CAF) D Licence Coaching Course, in a move aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of grassroots coaches across the state, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The programme is expected to introduce participants to modern coaching techniques and equip them with the knowledge required to develop their careers in line with national and continental coaching standards.

In preparation for the course, the Osun FA has secured the involvement of NFF Head of Technical Department Austin Eguavoen and Head of Coaching Education Dr Terry Eguaoje, who will lead the technical sessions.

Their participation is expected to give the coaches direct access to experienced figures in Nigerian football development and coaching education.

Speaking ahead of the programme, Osun FA Chairman Mayor Sola Fanawopo said the course would help participants improve their coaching capacity and understand contemporary methods of training players.

He also stressed the importance of the CAF D Licence as a starting point for coaches seeking to advance to higher coaching qualifications, describing the programme as a valuable opportunity for those committed to building careers in the profession.

The course is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Lanreleke Sports Academy in Ile-Ogbo, Osun State.

The academy’s sporting facilities are expected to support both classroom instruction and practical training during the programme.

A total of 40 registered coaches, selected through a screening process, are expected to participate in the course.

The Osun FA has assured participants, instructors, and other stakeholders of a well-organised programme, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots football development and the continuous improvement of coaching standards in the state.
