Noah Atubolu is expected to join Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent basis after impressing during his loan spell with the Bundesliga club.
The 24-year-old German goalkeeper of Nigerian origin has produced a strong season, convincing Frankfurt’s hierarchy that he could be the long-term solution in goal.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the purchase option in Atubolu’s loan agreement will be triggered automatically if two conditions are met. Eintracht Frankfurt must secure their Bundesliga status, while the goalkeeper must reach the number of appearances specified in his contract.
Atubolu is expected to fulfil the appearance requirement this month. If that happens, the transfer will cost Eintracht Frankfurt between 12 and 13 million euros.
The club are then expected to offer him a long-term contract, underlining their confidence in his performances and their desire to secure continuity in a key position.
The final outcome will depend largely on Frankfurt avoiding relegation and the goalkeeper completing the required number of matches.
Atubolu remains under contract with SC Freiburg until 30 June 2028 and has an estimated market value of 18 million euros. This season, he has played nine matches in all competitions, conceding 19 goals and keeping one clean sheet.
His annual salary in Germany is listed as 1,130,000 euros, equivalent to 734,500,000 FCFA.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s next fixture is their ninth league match of the season, against SC Paderborn. The result of that campaign, along with Atubolu’s appearances, will determine whether the German club complete the move on a permanent basis.
