Nigeria’s Super Eagles arrive in Moscow for Russia friendly

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have reached Moscow ahead of their international friendly against Russia next Tuesday.

Team officer Promise Efoghe confirmed that the Nigerian contingent arrived in the Russian capital on Friday afternoon.

Eric Chelle’s team will face Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in what will be only the second meeting between the nations at full international level.

Their previous encounter came in June 2025, when the sides drew 1-1 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

Nigeria will be seeking a response after losing their most recent match against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus.

Chelle has made two changes to his squad since that defeat, following the withdrawals of captain Wilfred Ndidi and Akpe Victory.

John Otomewo and Vince Osuji have been called up to replace them.
