Golden Eaglets coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere says he is confident Nigeria will beat Niger Republic in their opening match at the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship.
The two teams meet at Stade du 4 Aout in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, with victory guaranteeing Nigeria a place in the semi-finals.
Niger began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Cote d’Ivoire. A win for Nigeria would move the Golden Eaglets to the top of Group B and secure their place in the last four.
Uwejamomere believes his side have an advantage after watching both teams play, but warned his players that complacency could prove costly.
“We are very, very confident because we’re Nigeria,” Uwejamomere said ahead of the match.
“But we’re not overconfident because we have to respect our opponents, as they will give us a very tough battle.
“The advantage is with us because we have seen both teams play, but this could also be a disadvantage if we fail to get a result.
“A win for us will already get us into the semi-final.”
