Al Ahly captain and goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has officially extended his contract with the Cairo club until 2028, securing the future of one of the most influential figures in the squad.

The 37-year-old Egypt international remains a central part of Al Ahly’s leadership structure, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. His new deal provides the Egyptian giants with defensive continuity for several more seasons.

El Shenawy has played a major role in Al Ahly’s recent domestic and international success and continues to be regarded as a key presence during the club’s biggest matches. His experience is particularly valuable in the CAF Champions League, where he has helped provide authority and composure at the highest level of continental competition.

By retaining their established first-choice goalkeeper, Al Ahly have preserved an important source of stability and sent a clear message to their direct competitors. El Shenawy, who was born in El Hamool, will now continue his career between the posts as he seeks to add to an already exceptional list of honours.

The renewal also ensures that his influence will remain available to the club in crucial matches, with his leadership expected to continue shaping both Al Ahly’s defence and the wider squad until 2028.
