At 15 years, eight months and 10 days, Mayssa Baha became the youngest scorer in Liga F history after helping Barcelona beat Logrono 2-0 on Saturday.
The Morocco international was named in the starting line-up for the fifth round of the Spanish championship and needed only 17 minutes to make an impact.
Baha opened the scoring with a header from a corner delivered by Caroline Graham Hansen. The goal established her as the youngest player to score in the history of Liga F.
Patricia Guijarro added Barcelona’s second goal in the 71st minute, securing a victory that moved the Catalan side to the top of the league ahead of Real Madrid.
The landmark strike marks another rapid step in Baha’s development. Partly developed through Barcelona’s academy, the teenager was included in the first-team squad during pre-season despite her age.
Only a few weeks later, she has now scored in the league and set a new record for the competition’s youngest goalscorer.
Baha’s progress is another boost for Morocco, with the forward regarded as one of the most promising players of her generation.
Football is already a family tradition for the Baha household. Mayssa is the daughter of Nabil Baha, the current Morocco Under-23 manager, and the younger sister of Ziyad Baha.
Nabil Baha won 20 caps for Morocco during his playing career, most of which was spent in Spain, where he raised his children. He later became coach of the Morocco Under-17 team and guided them to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations at that level before taking charge of the Under-23 side.
Ziyad Baha is also considered a significant prospect in Moroccan football. After representing the Atlas Lions at youth level, the forward is continuing his development with the Under-19 team at Olympique de Marseille.
Mayssa’s record-breaking goal means all three members of the family have now established strong links with Moroccan football, with the youngest of them making her mark at the highest level of the women’s domestic game in Spain.
