Manchester United have decided to keep Michael Carrick as head coach after club executives held a meeting on Monday to discuss his position.
Carrick’s future had come under pressure following consecutive defeats by Como in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League. Manchester United lost 4-1 to Como before being beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth.
However, according to The Athletic, the club’s leadership has chosen not to dismiss Carrick and will allow him more time to improve the team’s situation.
Manchester United have not won any of their past eight matches and are 16th in the Premier League table.
Carrick’s side will face a demanding run of fixtures before the November international break. They are due to play Chelsea in the Premier League, Roma in the Champions League and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
