Manchester United are considering former Napoli manager Antonio Conte as a possible replacement for Michael Carrick, according to Corriere della Sera.
The Italian is reported to be at the top of the club’s list of potential candidates should they decide to make a change in the dugout.
Pressure on Carrick has increased after Manchester United collected only four points from their opening four league matches. The manager, however, recently signed a new long-term contract that runs until June 2028.
Conte has been without a club since his contract with Napoli was terminated early in May. The 57-year-old is understood to be prepared to return to management only for a major club offering a project that matches his ambitions.
Any decision by Manchester United could also have implications for Juventus, where head coach Luciano Spalletti is facing pressure.
Spalletti’s contract with the Turin club also runs until June 2028, and Juventus’ leadership publicly expressed its support for him this week. Some supporters, however, would like to see Conte return to the club.
