Manchester City take a 3-2 lead into half-time against Sunderland in the fifth round of the English championship after a fast-paced opening 45 minutes produced five goals.
Enzo Fernandez put the hosts ahead in the ninth minute, scoring his first goal for Manchester City since joining from Chelsea. Sunderland responded three minutes later through Brian Brobbey, who levelled the game at 1-1.
Manchester City regained the advantage in the 30th minute when Rayan Cherki found the net to put Enzo Maresca’s side back in front. Their lead lasted only three minutes, with Brobbey scoring again to complete his double and make it 2-2.
The hosts moved ahead for a third time before the interval, Antoine Semenyo restoring Manchester City’s lead.
