Harvey Elliott could leave Liverpool on loan before the transfer window closes after the club completed a reported £106m deal to sign France international Bradley Barcola from European champions Paris St-Germain.
The move ends weeks of speculation over Barcola’s future and brings the forward to Merseyside as part of a major reshaping of Liverpool’s attack. His arrival follows that of Victor Munoz, who is also a new addition to Andoni Iraola’s attacking options.
The changes could also have consequences for Cody Gakpo, who is now being linked with a possible move to Manchester City.
Elliott spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, but manager Unai Emery decided against making the move permanent. The former Fulham player was subsequently left out of Villa’s plans during the second half of the campaign in order to avoid activating a £35m purchase clause.
The England international has not featured in either of Liverpool’s first two matches of the 2026/27 season, with Iraola instead choosing other options. With Elliott entering the final year of his contract at Anfield, his departure is now considered increasingly likely.
A last-minute loan proposal has arrived from La Liga side Valencia, according to BBC Sport. The Spanish club are willing to pay half of Elliott’s wages as part of the proposed agreement.
