L’Equipe has unveiled a new cover ahead of this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, featuring five players presented as the leading contenders for the prestigious individual award.
The cover shows Argentina forward Lionel Messi, England striker Harry Kane, Spain international Lamine Yamal and French forwards Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
“It’s their project,” reads the headline on the cover.
The image was reported by The Touchline, which identified the five footballers as the principal candidates for this year’s prize.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place in London on 26 October. Ousmane Dembele is the current holder of the award.
Messi, who is among the players competing for the Ballon d’Or, has also led the MLS goalscoring race.
