Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade is expected to join Juventus on loan for the remainder of the 2026-27 season after an agreement was reached between the two clubs and the player.
The deal, reported by Fabrizio Romano, will see Serie A side Juventus pay a loan fee of £3.5m. It will not include either an option to buy Woltemade permanently or an obligation for the Italian club to sign him at the end of the loan.
Woltemade, 24, moved to Newcastle from Bundesliga club Stuttgart last summer for a club-record fee of £69m. The Germany international made a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, but his form declined significantly as the season progressed.
He finished the campaign with 11 goals and four assists from 51 appearances for Newcastle.
The forward’s position in the squad has since become less secure following the appointment of Matthias Jaissle. Woltemade has fallen down the pecking order under the new manager, although he was involved in Newcastle’s most recent match.
He came on as a substitute during Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham on 29 August.
That appearance is expected to be among Woltemade’s final contributions for Newcastle before he completes his temporary move to Juventus. The proposed arrangement is for the full 2026-27 season, with no provision for Juventus to make the transfer permanent through the terms currently agreed.
Woltemade joined Newcastle only last summer, making the proposed loan a swift change in circumstances for a player who had been signed for a club-record amount. His first season brought a substantial number of appearances and a combined total of 15 goals and assists, but his reduced status after Jaissle’s arrival has paved the way for a move away from St James’ Park.
Juventus will therefore take the forward on a season-long basis, while Newcastle retain his registration and will have no guaranteed transfer fee beyond the £3.5m loan payment. The agreement, as reported, contains no purchase clause of any kind.
The move would give Woltemade the opportunity to continue his career in Serie A after one season with Newcastle, while Juventus secure his services for the rest of the campaign. For Newcastle, it represents a temporary departure for the player less than a year after his record-breaking arrival from Stuttgart.
