Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Javier Hernandez says he continues to meet financial responsibilities for his former wife, Sara Kohan, despite their divorce in 2020.
The Mexico international said the separation had left him with multi-million-pound debts and complained that he was still paying for what he described as Kohan’s “incredibly luxurious life”.
Hernandez, widely known as Chicharito, said he remained committed to fulfilling his obligations after the end of the marriage. His comments indicate that the financial arrangements between the former couple have continued even though they separated several years ago.
Kohan, a model, and Hernandez split in 2020. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward said that, since the divorce, he has continued to provide financial support for his former wife while also dealing with substantial debts of his own.
The scale of the payments was highlighted by TMZ Sports, which reported that Kohan had sought £73,000 a month in alimony. The report did not provide further details about whether that figure was agreed, ordered by a court or remained a request.
Hernandez’s remarks focused on the continuing cost of the divorce and his belief that he is still funding a standard of living he considers exceptionally expensive. He did not indicate that his responsibilities had ended following the split.
The financial dispute comes after the pair’s relationship ended in 2020, with Hernandez describing himself as someone who continues to provide for his former wife despite the personal and financial consequences. The Mexican forward enjoyed spells with both Manchester United and Real Madrid during his playing career. He is commonly referred to by the nickname Chicharito, meaning “little pea” in Spanish, and became known internationally during his time in European football.
In this case, however, his public comments were not about football. Instead, Hernandez raised concerns about the ongoing financial consequences of his divorce from Kohan, including the debts he says have accumulated and the support he continues to provide.
