Inter Milan track Cagliari teenager Paul Mendy after Atalanta display

Inter Milan are monitoring Cagliari’s young players, with Senegalese forward Paul Mendy emerging as a particular target for the Serie A club.

According to Pasquale Guarro, Mendy and Alessandro Roman are among the Cagliari players being watched by the Nerazzurri. An Inter scout was present at the New Balance Arena for Cagliari’s match against Atalanta to assess Mendy’s progress in person.

The 19-year-old took the opportunity to make an impression, scoring the goal that put Cagliari ahead. His performance reinforced the qualities that had already attracted attention and ensured he did not go unnoticed by the Inter representative in the stands.

Mendy was also praised by Pape Ndoffene Fall, who described the forward as a “diamond in the rough” after his display for Cagliari.

Inter are understood to appreciate Mendy’s potential, despite the player still being at an early stage of his development. The Senegalese forward has a solid foundation and considerable room for improvement, which could encourage the Milan club to continue tracking him before deciding whether to make a move in the coming months.

Mendy is under contract with Cagliari until June 2031 and is currently valued at 7 million euros by Transfermarkt. That figure could rise quickly if he maintains his current progress, making him a potentially attractive long-term investment for Inter.

Cagliari’s next fixture will be against Udinese in matchday five of the Italian championship. The listed odds for the match are 3.70 for a Cagliari win, 3.10 for a draw and 1.95 for an Udinese victory.
