Hakimi pauses talks over new Paris Saint-Germain contract

Achraf Hakimi has put discussions over a new long-term contract at Paris Saint-Germain on hold, despite the club wanting to secure his future beyond his current deal.

The Morocco right-back is contracted to Paris Saint-Germain until 2029, but the club’s management are pleased with his performances and would like to agree an extension.

According to L'Equipe, Hakimi and his representatives believe it is too early to begin formal negotiations and have therefore slowed the process.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique is also hoping the 27-year-old remains at the club for many years, the report adds.

Hakimi was in outstanding form on Friday, scoring the first hat-trick of his career as Paris Saint-Germain beat Le Havre 5-1. The full-back also provided two assists in the match.
