Gianluca Zambrotta has another operation to correct bow-legged condition

Published on: 29 October 2026

Former Milan footballer Gianluca Zambrotta has undergone another operation to correct a varus deformity that has affected him for several years and continued to cause problems with his knees after he retired from professional football.

Varus deformity affects the alignment of the lower limbs, giving the legs a bow-legged, or “O-shaped”, appearance, according to pianetamilan.it.

In Zambrotta’s case, the condition became significantly worse after he ended his playing career, partly because his menisci had been removed.

The former Italy international retired from professional football in 2013.
