Ghana target Emerse Fae to replace Carlos Queiroz after disappointing run

Published on: 01 October 2026

Ghana have identified Emerse Fae as their leading candidate to succeed Carlos Queiroz, following the official end of the Portuguese manager’s time in charge after a series of disappointing performances.

The Ghana Football Association is already searching for a coach who can revive the national team quickly and provide a fresh direction. Fae has emerged as the preferred option among the country’s football leadership, with officials in Accra keen to make him their next manager.

Fae previously led the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire and secured a memorable triumph at CAN 2023. That success has strengthened his reputation as a coach capable of building a winning mentality and resilience within a national team.

Those qualities are viewed as important for the Black Stars, who are seeking a rapid improvement after the end of their partnership with Queiroz.

Ghana’s interest in Fae is understood to be strong, but negotiations will be crucial if the Football Association is to persuade the Ivorian coach to take on the new continental challenge.
