Lisandro Martinez criticised the Manchester United leadership after the club’s 2-0 defeat by Atletico in the Champions League.
The Argentina defender’s comments drew a response from former England and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, who told Martinez: “Shut up and defend!”
Manchester United are currently 13th in the English league table. Michael Carrick’s side will return to action on Sunday, 18 October, when they travel to face Leeds.
