Frosinone president Maurizio Sterpi has announced plans to meet Fares Ghedjemis’ agent after expressing his frustration at the way some European clubs have approached the Algeria international.
Sterpi singled out Monaco over direct contact with the 24-year-old forward, whose situation has taken an unexpected turn following Frosinone’s match against Venezia. Monaco’s interest was first revealed exclusively by Africafoot.
Ghedjemis featured in the recent fixture, prompting the Frosinone president to say he wanted to discuss the player’s current contract situation with his representative as soon as possible. However, formal negotiations between the parties have not yet started, according to Maghreb-Foot.
Agent confirms imminent meeting
A formal meeting is expected shortly to consider an improved contract for Ghedjemis. Sofiane Mahieddine, the winger’s agent, confirmed that the meeting is being arranged to assess the possibility of extending the player’s commitment to Frosinone in Serie A.
Frosinone are preparing for further approaches during the next winter transfer window and want to resolve the situation quickly. The club’s intention is to increase the player’s market value while discouraging potential suitors if the Algeria international continues to perform at his current level in the Italian top flight.
Ghedjemis, who was born in Montreuil, remains highly regarded in the European market despite no concrete agreement being reached during the most recent summer transfer window. His performances in the coming Serie A matches are expected to influence the negotiations between Mahieddine and Frosinone.
The player is under contract with the club until 30 June 2028. Besiktas also showed interest in him during the summer, as previously reported exclusively by Africafoot.
Frosinone’s next Serie A fixture will be against Genoa in the fourth round of the Italian championship.
