Everton secured a narrow 1-0 home victory over Ipswich in the fifth round of the English championship, with the only goal of the match arriving early.
Thierno Barry put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute, taking advantage of an opportunity to beat the Ipswich goalkeeper and open the scoring.
Ipswich responded by looking for an equaliser, but Everton defended their lead and prevented the visitors from finding a way back into the game.
The task became more difficult for Ipswich after the interval when Abdoul Fatawu was shown a red card in the 67th minute. The dismissal left the visitors with 10 players for the remainder of the match.
Everton held on to their one-goal advantage to claim victory.
