EPL: Wilfred Ndidi confident of Leicester City's topflight survival

Wilfred Ndidi has revealed his optimism on Leicester City's English Premier League (EPL) topflight survival following another agonizing defeat to Arsenal over the weekend as the loss further keeps them down the league standings, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Super Eagles midfielder who made his first Premier League start in 2025 having been sidelined for three months due to injury praised the team's bravery and determination at the King Power Stadium despite falling to two late goals from Mikel Merino.

“We stayed on it until they scored the first goal. We knew we were still on it. We were just unlucky that we conceded that first one. We were together, stayed compact and everyone was in it", he told the club's media.

“We’re a bit gutted because we conceded two and we should have stayed more in the game. That was the only thing. It was unlucky. Overall, we are pleased with the performance until they scored the goal.

“It’s just something that we need to take into the next one. Everyone is in it and we know the position that we are in at the moment. We did well to be honest, playing against a tough team. I think it’s just that we have to take the positives forward to the next game", he added.

Beyond his return to club action, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is also relieved ahead of the World Cup qualifying games against Rwanda next month.
