Enyimba keeper Dede Dare sets sights on more NPFL points after derby win

Enyimba assistant captain Dede Dare says the nine-time league champions are determined to build on their 1-0 victory over Oriental rivals Kun Khalifat FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Tobi Iyanda’s 15th-minute strike settled Sunday’s Matchday 11 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, giving the home side all three points.

The result lifted Enyimba out of the relegation zone and offered a significant boost to their campaign after a difficult start to the season.

Dare welcomed the victory but stressed that the team’s immediate focus had been on securing the maximum points.

“We are glad with the three points, as the victory will move us a little up on the league table,” Dare told the club’s media.

“The mindset was to secure the victory in the game, as we all needed the three points desperately.”

The goalkeeper now expects Enyimba to maintain that determination when they face Ranchers Bees in their next league fixture.

While accepting that the result of the match cannot be guaranteed, Dare said the team would travel with confidence and a clear intention to win.

“In football, nothing is guaranteed. You are not certain you will get a win. We will go there with the determination to get a win,” he added.
