Egypt responded to their frustrating draw with Angola by beating South Sudan 5-0 in Juba on Tuesday to get their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign back on track.
The Pharaohs gradually established control and took the lead in the 36th minute, when Mostafa Ziko finished to put Egypt ahead. Hossam Hassan’s side maintained their advantage until half-time.
Egypt increased the pressure after the break and doubled their lead just four minutes into the second half. Omar Marmoush scored in the 49th minute to give the visitors a firm grip on the match.
Ibrahim Adel added a third goal in the 75th minute before Marmoush completed his double seven minutes from the end of normal time.
South Sudan were unable to find a response to Egypt’s control, and Hamza Abdelkarim completed the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time, making it 5-0 in the 90+2nd minute.
The result gives Egypt three valuable points in Juba and provides a strong response to their opening-day draw against Angola.
