Egypt and South Africa will meet in a friendly on Sunday, 4 October 2026, with both teams expected to make changes because of injuries and other absences.
The match could provide opportunities for players who have had limited involvement, as the two managers prepare for a reshaped contest.
Egypt
Egypt will be without captain Mohamed Salah, who has left the squad’s training camp. Mohamed Abdelmonem is also unavailable, while Ahmed Fatouh, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed El Shenawy are all injured.
Karim Hafez is expected to start at left-back in Salah’s absence, with Egypt likely to field a number of players who have not been regular starters.
