Eguavoen: Iheanacho omission would be "unfair"

Former Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen believes it would be unjust if Kelechi Iheanacho is left out of Eric Chelle's final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Iheanacho was included in Chelle's expanded 39-man squad, but there are indications that the Leicester City forward may be dropped from the final selection.

Eguavoen feels that excluding Iheanacho would be unfair, given his initial inclusion in the larger squad.

"It's not fair on Kelechi Iheanacho if Eric Chelle makes a 39-man list and he isn't involved," Eguavoen said on Monday Night Football.

Chelle is expected to announce his final squad this week, with the team set to assemble in the coming days.
