The result puts Ecuador alone at the top of Group C after the opening round of matches. Their convincing victory delivered an early statement from the South American side, while Ghana were left with a significant challenge to overcome in their next two fixtures.
Ecuador established control during the first half and went into the interval with a two-goal advantage. Ghana struggled to turn their opportunities into goals, with their lack of precision in the final stage of attacks preventing the Black Princesses from mounting a serious recovery.
