Dynamo Dresden target Kennedy Okpala as Paderborn striker attracts interest

Published on: 31 August 2026

German-Nigerian forward Kennedy Okpala is the subject of a strong transfer rumour linking him with a move from Bundesliga club SC Paderborn to 2. Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden.

The likelihood of the proposed transfer is rated at 97%, although the move has not been confirmed by either club. Okpala, 21, plays as a centre-forward and is currently valued at €1.5m.

He joined Paderborn from SV Waldhof Mannheim in January 2026 in a deal reported at €550,000. The transfer came after he had established himself in Waldhof’s senior set-up, having previously progressed through the club’s under-17 and under-19 teams.

Okpala has yet to make an appearance for Paderborn in the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign, with the club having also played one DFB-Pokal fixture. His limited involvement this season is the clearest available context for the reported interest from Dresden.

The striker was part of the Waldhof side that won the Baden Cup in 2025-26, his only listed senior honour. Born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Okpala holds German and Nigerian nationality.

The reported move would see him leave a Paderborn side competing in Germany’s top flight for Dresden, who are operating in the second tier. For now, Okpala remains a Paderborn player as the rumour continues to develop.
