Former Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has joined Italian side Como 1907 Women after completing a move from Mexican club Pachuca, marking her return to Italian football, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 35-year-old centre-back joined the BiancoBlu during the summer transfer window, bringing extensive domestic and international experience to the club’s defensive department.
Ohale began her professional career in Nigeria in 2008 and has since played in several countries, including the United States, Sweden, Spain and Mexico. She also previously featured for Italian giants Roma in 2020.
At international level, the experienced defender represented Nigeria for more than 15 years and won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations five times with the Super Falcons.
Como 1907 Women’s technical director Nils Nielsen welcomed the Nigerian’s arrival, highlighting her defensive qualities and experience as valuable additions to the squad.
"Osinachi is a very experienced and good defender. Having represented Nigeria for more than 15 years, including as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us. Her ability to place herself in the right spot defensively, and her 1-on-1 skills in marking as well as aerial strengths will help the team for sure".
Ohale also expressed her excitement about returning to Italy and beginning a new chapter with the club.
"I'm happy to return to Italy and embark on this new experience here in Como; I have a very positive feeling about it. I'm ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team."
The move offers Ohale another opportunity to continue her career in European football, with Como hoping her experience and defensive ability will strengthen the team as the season progresses.
