Carvajal’s proposed Getafe return collapses as talks end

Published on: 07 October 2026

Dani Carvajal’s potential return to La Liga has fallen through after negotiations over a move to Getafe broke down.

The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid when his contract expired during the summer. Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed the deal was no longer progressing.

Asked about Carvajal’s possible arrival, Torres told ESPN: “Everything has fallen apart, there’s nothing left.”

Carvajal left Real Madrid in June after a highly successful spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, during which he won 27 trophies, including several Champions League titles.

The veteran right-back made his final competitive appearance for the club on 23 May 2026, starting in Real Madrid’s 4-2 victory over Athletic Club.

With the proposed move to Getafe now off, Carvajal remains a free agent as he considers the next stage of his career.
