Morocco have taken a 1-0 lead into half-time against Lesotho in their CAN 2027 qualifying match on Tuesday, with Brahim Diaz scoring shortly before the interval.
The Lions of the Atlas controlled the opening 45 minutes and repeatedly pushed into Lesotho’s half. Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, Ismael Saibari and Diaz all looked to create openings, but the home goalkeeper and defence dealt with Morocco’s early pressure.
After several chances, Morocco finally broke the deadlock in the 45th minute. Diaz completed a promising attacking move by finding the net with a left-footed strike.
Walid Regragui’s side held on to their advantage through three minutes of added time, with the referee then sending both teams into the dressing rooms at 1-0.
Morocco must now protect their lead during the second half.
