Bayern Munich produced a clinical second-half display to beat Atletico de Madrid 2-0 away from home on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League.

After a cautious and tightly contested opening 45 minutes ended goalless, the German side increased the pressure after the interval and quickly took control of the match.

Lennart Karl broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, finishing off Bayern Munich’s sustained dominance. The visitors enjoyed 60% possession as they dictated the pace and territory for much of the contest.

Atletico de Madrid responded by making changes in an attempt to alter the flow of the game. Kang-In Lee was introduced for Le Normand in the 59th minute as the hosts looked for greater attacking impetus.

However, Bayern Munich’s defensive structure remained composed and Atletico de Madrid were unable to turn their possession into clear opportunities. The Spanish side struggled to find a way through the visitors’ organised back line.

Bayern Munich then doubled their advantage in the 74th minute. Konrad Laimer completed the move after being set up by Harry Kane, giving the visitors a decisive lead.

Atletico de Madrid could not find a response during the closing stages, leaving Bayern Munich to claim all three points with a controlled and efficient performance. The result leaves the home side with a logical defeat in the league phase after failing to disrupt Bayern Munich’s defence.
