Barcelona are set to welcome back Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde before their demanding schedule reaches November’s international break.
According to the latest update from Marca, both defenders trained fully with the squad after Saturday’s 6-1 home win over Alaves. They are now in contention to face Atletico Madrid on November 8th.
The return of Kounde would be particularly valuable to manager Hansi Flick, who has been short of options at right-back. La Masia midfielder Brian Farinas filled the position against Alaves.
Barcelona responded strongly to their 2-1 El Clasico defeat by Real Madrid with a convincing victory over Alaves. The result kept the defending Spanish champions three points clear at the top of LaLiga.
Flick’s side face Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League before meeting domestic rivals Atletico Madrid, and the Barcelona manager is expected to rotate his squad across the two matches.
Barcelona will still be without Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo and Xavi Espart, who are expected to remain sidelined until after the FIFA window. Christensen and Kounde’s progress therefore provides a timely boost as the club enter a crucial run of fixtures.
