Barcelona are monitoring Galatasaray attacking midfielder Alexey Batrakov, according to Spanish newspaper Diario Sport.
The 21-year-old Russian has reportedly been watched by Barcelona scouts for several years. The Catalan club have not opened negotiations for the player, but remain interested in his development.
Barcelona’s assessment of Batrakov has intensified following their meeting with Galatasaray in the Champions League, when the midfielder had the opportunity to face the Spanish side directly.
Galatasaray are understood to be aware of interest in Batrakov from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and other leading European clubs. However, the player’s release clause is currently a significant obstacle for Barcelona.
Batrakov’s contract contains a buyout figure of 55 million euros. Barcelona are not prepared to pay that amount at this stage, although that position could change if the midfielder continues to improve.
Batrakov has made 10 appearances for Galatasaray, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
