Balogun reiterates desire to play for Nigeria

Rangers defender Leon Balogun has reaffirmed his commitment to playing for Nigeria, dismissing suggestions that he has retired from international football.

Balogun's last appearance for the Super Eagles was in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe in June 2022.

The 36-year-old has been consistently overlooked since then, largely due to fitness issues. However, after impressing for Rangers this season, there have been calls for his return to the national team.

Balogun told Brila FM: "I've never said that I retired from international football, and I think the people who need to know are aware that I'm still very much willing and ambitious to represent the national team."

Balogun has been capped 46 times by Nigeria, scoring one goal.
