Published on: 09 September 2026

Nigeria defensive midfielder Augustine Chima has joined Cyprus League club Apol. Limassol from Coal City UTD, completing a move that takes the 18-year-old into Cypriot football.

Chima’s transfer was completed on 8 September 2026, with Apol. Limassol adding a young player to its midfield options. The deal marks a change of footballing environment for the teenager, who arrives from Coal City UTD in Nigeria.

The midfielder’s listed position is defensive midfield, a role centred on providing protection in front of the defence and supporting the team’s work without the ball. His arrival gives Apol. Limassol a player whose primary position is in the middle of the pitch as the club competes in the Cyprus League.

Chima is one of the younger players to make the move into the league, having joined the Cypriot club at 18. His nationality also adds an international dimension to the transfer, with the Nigerian moving from a club in his home country to a new challenge in Cyprus.

Coal City UTD is the only previous club identified in relation to the transfer, while Apol. Limassol is now the next stage of Chima’s career. The move connects football in Nigeria with the Cyprus League and places the midfielder within a different domestic competition.

Apol. Limassol have secured Chima’s registration following the completed switch, with the player now attached to the club from 8 September. No transfer fee has been disclosed as part of the move.

For Chima, the transfer represents a significant step at the beginning of his senior career. At 18, he joins Apol. Limassol with his role clearly defined as a defensive midfielder and begins his time in Cyprus after leaving Coal City UTD.

The move is the latest confirmed change in Chima’s career and sees the Nigerian midfielder continue his development at Apol. Limassol. He has joined the Cyprus League club from Coal City UTD.
