France’s Court of Cassation has dismissed an appeal by Achraf Hakimi’s defence, upholding a decision for the Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender to face trial over an allegation of rape.
AJEL reported that a 24-year-old woman went to the police in February 2023 and accused Hakimi of raping her.
According to police, the woman had first met the footballer through social media in January 2023.
The Versailles Court of Appeal ruled in June that the case should be sent for trial. Hakimi subsequently challenged that decision at France’s highest court for criminal and civil matters, but his appeal has now been rejected.
Hakimi has denied the allegation since the beginning of the legal proceedings.
