Abiola Dauda sees major Leeds United future for Leonard Ngege

Published on: 26 October 2026

Abiola Dauda believes Leonard Ngege has the ability to develop into a leading player at Leeds United and says the 18-year-old defender fully deserves the opportunity to establish himself in England.

The former Nigerian striker, who is now an agent, praised Leeds United for placing their confidence in the young centre-back. Dauda made his comments in an interview with Africafoot, where he discussed Ngege’s potential and his prospects at the club.

Ngege joined Leeds United in January 2026 after spells with Ikorodu City and Remo Stars. The Nigeria defender signed a contract running until the end of the 2026/27 season and is continuing his development within the club’s youth teams.

Despite his age, Ngege already has senior-level experience. He has represented the Nigeria national team and has also played in the CAF Champions League, giving him exposure beyond youth football.

Dauda also discussed the situation of Chike Mbah during the interview. Mbah’s trial with Queens Park Rangers did not result in a move, after which he joined OFK Belgrade in Serbia.

The agent also identified the Swedish league as a useful platform for young African players seeking to develop their careers in Europe. He believes the competition can provide emerging talents with an opportunity to gain experience and continue their progression outside Africa.

Leeds United are due to face Bournemouth in their next English league fixture, with the match scheduled for matchweek nine. The odds listed for the game are 3.10 for a Leeds United victory, 3.20 for a draw and 2.00 for a Bournemouth win.
