NWSL side Washington Spirit has confirmed the exit of newly acquired Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun to Dallas Trinity FC ahead of the new USL Super League season kick-off as announced today by both clubs, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Abiodun recently signed a three-year contract with the Spirit including an option for 2028 following her final season at the University of Pittsburgh. During the loan period, the international roster slots occupied by both players on the Spirit roster will be vacated and available for other players.
“Deborah and Tamara’s loans are part of our development plans for them as they begin their U.S. pro careers. They both will gain valuable experience playing in Dallas this year and we look forward to welcoming them back to the Spirit in the future", said President of Soccer Operations Mark Krikorian.
Joined by Tamara Bolt, Abiodun and Bolt's loan agreements with Dallas are set to expire at the end of the 2025 calendar year. Dallas has paid an undisclosed loan fee to the Spirit for both players. Both Abiodun and Bolt are expected to return to the Spirit before the start of the 2026 season.
