Norwegian club SK Brann have completed the signing of promising Nigerian winger Chinedu Ononogbo from Right2Win Football Club, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029, marking a significant step in his young career. Ononogbo was identified by Brann’s scouting team during a local tournament in January, where his performances caught the attention of the Norwegian outfit.
For now, the talented winger will link up with Brann’s youth team as part of his development pathway, with the expectation that he will gradually progress into the senior squad.
Expressing his excitement after sealing the move, Ononogbo described the transfer as a life-changing opportunity.
“I am incredibly happy for this opportunity, and will do everything I can to take good care of it. It is not an easy life in Nigeria, so this is a great opportunity for me,” he told the club’s official website.
He also admitted that adapting to the new environment would take some adjustment.
“It’s very cold, but I’ll get used to it quickly. There are very good coaches here, and both the coaches and the players have welcomed me very well.”
Brann’s sporting director, Per-Ove Ludvigsen, highlighted the club’s growing international recruitment strategy and expressed optimism about the youngster’s future.
“In recent years, we have worked to expand the area from which we recruit new players,” Ludvigsen said.
“We now have a better system for recruiting players from other continents and cultures, because it is important that the players also find their place outside the football field. It will be exciting to see Chinedu’s development in the years to come.”
The move underlines Brann’s commitment to scouting emerging talents beyond Europe, while offering Ononogbo a platform to develop his potential in Scandinavian football.
