Former England international Joe Cole says Tottenham cannot be ruled out of becoming involved in the Premier League battle for survival after their difficult start to the season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa in the fifth round of the Premier League, leaving them with only two points from their opening matches.
The result leaves Tottenham 18th in the table, and Cole said: “You cannot rule out Tottenham being involved in the fight for survival.”

Cole also criticised defender van Hecke for his role in the incident that led to Nicolas Jackson’s goal against Aston Villa.
