Matchday 28 of the Nigeria Premier Football League got underway on Saturday with home sides El Kanemi Warriors and Kwara United claiming vital victories in front of their fans, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

At the El-Kanemi Stadium in Maiduguri, the hosts produced a composed display to defeat Abia Warriors 2–0. Daddy Abdulrahman broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, calmly converting from the penalty spot after the home side were awarded a spot-kick.

El Kanemi controlled proceedings for much of the contest and eventually put the result beyond doubt in the closing stages. Bashir Musa struck in the 86th minute to double the lead and secure maximum points for the Maiduguri-based side.

Elsewhere in Abeokuta, Wikki Tourists suffered a slim 1–0 loss to Kwara United. Akeem Akanni netted the decisive goal as early as the 15th minute, a strike that ultimately proved enough for the Harmony Boys to take all three points.

The remaining Matchday 28 fixtures are set to be concluded on Sunday and Monday as teams continue their push for crucial points in the closing stretch of the season.

Wikki Tourists FC and Katsina United FC played out a dramatic 3–3 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 25 clash, a game that was eventually abandoned following serious crowd disturbances and alleged attacks on match officials and club personnel, according to Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The encounter was brought to a halt shortly after Katsina United scored an equaliser late in the game, amid reports that the centre referee was attacked. This incident reportedly forced the reserve referee to step in, leading to a prolonged delay before the fixture was eventually abandoned after 90 minutes plus 22 minutes had been played.

In a related development, Katsina United chairman, Surajo Malumfashi, was reportedly injured following an alleged encroachment by Wikki Tourists supporters. He was reportedly given medical attention at a hospital in Bauchi. A video circulating on social media shows Malumfashi with a visible head injury, with blood stains on his shaved scalp.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Wikki Tourists FC nor Katsina United FC has released an official statement on the incident. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) organisers are yet to comment on the situation.

According to match officials, the abandoned fixture is expected to resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, with the remaining 12 minutes scheduled to be completed, pending official confirmation from the league body.

On the pitch, the match delivered plenty of drama before the unfortunate scenes. Wikki Tourists made a fast start when Mairiga opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Katsina United responded through Collins, who netted the first of his hat-trick in the 20th minute. Jubrin restored the hosts’ lead from the penalty spot in the 27th minute, but Collins struck again in the 35th minute to bring the visitors level.

Ibrahim put Wikki Tourists ahead once more in the 53rd minute, only for Collins to complete his hat-trick with a well-taken goal in the 62nd minute, ensuring parity for Katsina United.

Following the outcome, Wikki Tourists sit 16th on the NPFL standings with 28 points from 24 matches, while Katsina United occupy 10th position with 33 points from the same number of games, as attention now shifts to the league’s decision on the abandoned fixture.

Bendel Insurance produced a dominant display to seal a comfortable 3–0 home victory over Wikki Tourists while Niger Tornadoes beat reigning champions, Remo Stars, on Saturday, Nigeriassoccernet.com reports.

Chinedu Nwosu opened the scoring in the 16th minute, before Emmanuel Dung doubled the advantage with a close-range goal just two minutes into the second half.

Emmanuel Akpan put the result beyond doubt in the 59th minute after benefiting from. Onyian's long throw as Insurance secured all three points with authority.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes recorded a hard-earned 1–0 win over Remo Stars to go third on the log standings.

Katsina United edged Wikki Tourist in the last game of the Nigeria Premier Football League week five matches, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

They defeated Wikki Tourist 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Monday night.

Captain of the side, Usman Barau, scored in the 17th minute, a goal that was enough to get maximum points at the end of 90 minutes.

Yusuf Abdullateef opened score for the Wolves after 7 minutes of action before the lead was doubled through Igbunu Evwierhurhoma 9 minutes later Mahmood courtesy of an assist from Abdullateef.

In the 25th minutes, Efe Yarhere scored the third to put the game far from the reach of Wikki Tourist.

Mahmood Aliyu reduced the deficit for Wikki Tourists to make it 3-1 in the 35th minutes to end the first half that way.

Wonderson Baba pulled another one back for Wikki Tourist in the 55th minutes, but the goal only proved a consolation as Warri Wolves held on to win.

They join Wikki Tourists, Barau FC, and Kun Khalifat in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, which kicks off on August 22.

Remo Stars 2-1 win over Plateau United in Jos on Sunday means the winner of the last two Super Six ticket in group A will be decided on the final day. Same for group B after Doma United failed to secure the needed 3 points at home against Rangers on Sunday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

In group A, Remo Stars from a goal down scored twice in the final 10 minutes to end Plateau United's hope of a Super Six ticket while boosting their own chances in the process. The result also meant Enyimba will have to wait for the final day to confirm their particioation in the playoff which only a win or a defeat to one of their challengers, Akwa United or Remo Stars will guarantee.

Enyimba meanwhile spanked Gombe United 5-0 in what would've sealed their Super Six status had result in Jos be favourable. Akwa United were 2-0 winners at home against El-Kanemi Warriors. Aside Bendel Insurance who pick-up one of the 3 group A's Super Six ticket after their 1-1 draw with Shootings Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the fight for the final two spots with go down the wire between Remo Stars, Enyimba and Akwa United.

Although Remo Stars looks the favourite as they will be playing their final game at home against Kwara united whose place in the league is secured already, Enyimba and Akwa United will have to sweat it out at Ibadan and Gombe as both teams will be away to Shooting Stars and Gombe United respectively.

In group B, Doma United must be kicking themselves after failing to pick the maximum points against Rangers which could've sealed their Super Six spot.

The Savannah Tigers would've have entered the history book on Sunday had they been able to beat Rangers with a least a goal.

With Lobi Stars the only team to have qualified for the Super Six in the group, Rivers United with 3 games in hand, Doma United and Sunshine Stars with a game less than others, Abia Warriors and Niger Tornadoes all stand a chance to progress to the Super Six. Although Rivers United looks the likliest of the 5 to join Lobi Stars as they currently occupies the second spot with 3 outstanding games, the fight definitely will go down the wire.

At the other end, group A has been concluded after Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors drop to the Nigeria National League. Both teams relegation was confirmed on Sunday following their 1-0 and 2-0 loss to Kwara United and Akwa United respectively.

In group B, aside Dakkada FC who have been confirmed releagted, the battle for survival remain between Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourist. Although the latter have played a game less, the look likely to be joining Dakkada in going down as thier last two opponents have the sight on the Super Six tickets.

The final day is upon us and it can be said that there is all to play for both in the battle for Super Six and survival.

Bendel Insurance became the first club to secure a place in the super six following their goaless draw with Gombe United on Sunday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The Benin Gunners who are still unbeaten after 16 games held their grounds despite the series of threat on and off the pitch to pick a valuable point in the far North.

The result means they are officially the first club to book the spot as the 4th club on the log is 7 points behind them with two games left to be played.

The win put them 3rd on the log as the maximum points from their final games will see them through.

Enyimba pip El-Kanemi Warriors by a lone goal to move a step closer to the super six.

At the bottom of the group, El-Kanemi Warriors looks ready for the NNL following their 1-0 home loss to Enyimba.

One of Nasarawa and Kwara United will likely join Warriors in the NNL.

In group B, Lobi Stars strengthen their grip on top of the log with a 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes.

Abia Warriors rekindled their hope for a super six spot with a 3-0 hammering of Dakkada FC who looks set for the NNL.

It was reported that after findings and checking all evidences on ground, the Disciplinary Committee had to reinstate the earlier removed points from the teams.

According to the committee, the evidences provided by the centre referee, Ndubuisi Ukah that he was hit on the chest by Remo Stars General Manager, Ekene Adams were not substantial enough.

Similarly, Wikki Tourist had their points set aside just like Remo Stars and had their three points that was removed reinstated.

However, the three points deducted from Bayelsa United was upheld by the committee.

The Promise Keepers defeated the Giant Elephants by a goal to nil in the round 64 clash at the UNEC Stadium, Enugu to reach the round of 32.

In the 27th minute, Liman Ahmadu was at the right place at the right time to stab home the opener after Abbey Benson's initial effort was cleared off the line.

Uche Collins pushed for the second 12 minutes later, but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper as the Uyo side pushed for more goals till the end of the first half.

Akwa continued their dominance in the second 45 minutes with Uche Collins and Ahmadu coming close in a couple of occasions to score, but no avail as the score ended 1-0.

Reigning champions, Remo Stars Beyond Limits Football Academy continued their quest to retaining the Nigeria Premier Football League LaLiga U-15 Promise title after giving Wikki Tourist a whitewash on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

A heroic performance by current league top scorer, Opeyemi Yusuf and four other more goals put the Ikenne based side in the 7th heaven against the young Tourist from Bauchi at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Yusuf had put his side ahead from the spot in the 7th minute before he made it two via an header four minutes later.

Yusuf completed his hattrick in the 44th minute as the young Sky Blue Stars were on the driving seat for an onslaught.

Waris Hassan and Oluwaseyi Oguniyi scored in the 55th and 60th minute to complete the rout to end the tie 7-0.

In the other quarter final match, El Kanemi Warriors knocked out Akwa United 3-1 on penalties after a goalless score line at the end of full time.

After finishing top of group C, the Junior People's Elephant were paired with group A second place club side, Mees Palace Football Academy (Plateau United).

Enyimba U-15 team finished the group stages with six points after wins to Bendel Insurance and Dakkada and a loss to Wikki Tourist.

While Plateau United in group A defeated Bayelsa United, lost to Remo Stars and won Lobi Stars to finish with six points.

The quarter final match will hold on Saturday, the 22nd of April at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Other quarter final parings will see shooting stars play Sunshine Stars on the same day while Remo Stars will go head to head with Wikki Tourist and Akwa United will play El Kanemi Warriors the next day.

Beyond Limits Football Academy ended the group stage with maximum 9 points following their last match win against Bayelsa United on Thursday at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Opeyemi Yusuf's brace in the first half and second half gave the Ikenne side the win against Bayelsa United.

The group A leaders were joined by second place, Plateau United that have six points after winning two matches against Bayelsa United and Lobi Stars.

In group B, Akwa United defeated Doma United by two goals to one to secure quarter final qualification on Thursday.

Ofofon James opened score for Akwa, but AbdulRahman Mahmud drew Doma level before Akanimo Johnson won the match in the second half for Akwa.

Akwa United finish with 7 points and  are joined in qualification by Sunshine Stars which have six points.

Enyimba FC U-15 team progressed to the next round despite a 2-0 loss to Wikki Tourist in the first game of the day.

Olatunji Onasanya and Olarenwaju Ayobami combined goals in either half of the game ended 10-men Enyimba's unbeaten run in tournament.

The two teams qualify in the group with Enyimba finishing top with 6 while Wikki Tourist finish with 4 points.

Group D saw Shooting Stars and El Kanemi Warriors qualify after garnering 7 and 5 points respectively.

The two teams played against each other on Thursday in the last game of the group, playing a one all draw at the end.

Dauda Musa scored in the 8th minute for El Kanemi Warriors before Lateef Rasheed  drew level in the 45th minute.

With four games left to end the regular season, Bendel Insurance remain the only unbeaten team in the league following yet another draw on Sunday, this time with Remo Stars at Ikenne, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

With just 16 minutes into the encounter, Franck Kwame puts the host ahead with his debut goal after glancing home a header after a flick on from Nduka Junior.

Insurance responded with the equaliser 4 minutes later through Divine Nwachukwu.

Enyimba compound Kwara United woes as they condemned them to a back to back home loss at the Akure Township Stadium.

Mbaoma taps in Obot's cutback to give Enyimba the lead in the 29th minute. The lead lasted only for 6 minutes as Kadiri levels for the host from the spot 10 minutes into the break.

Mbaoma bounced on a defensive error from the host for get his brace and Enyimba's second if the evening in the 78th minutes and that was all the People's Elephant needed to move 2nd on group A log.

Bayelsa United resurgence continues as they put 3 pass Lobi Stars in Yenagoa. It their 3rd win on the bounce after beating WIkki Tourists 2-1 away from home last week and hammering Abia Warriors 5-1 the week before. They are now unbeaten in four.

Elsewhere, Plateau United narrowly defeat Akwa United to further boost their push for a Super Six ticket.

In a season when referees in the country are getting commendations for improved officiating, there is someone not pleased with them at the moment and that is the chairman of Wikki Tourists Football Club who believed their poor show has contributed to his team's woes this season, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

Alhaji Balarabe Yusuf ‘Douglas’, the chairman of the Northern club also alleged that dirty politics by those he tagged enemies of Governor Bala Mohammed and bad officiating are responsible for the crisis that has hit the club in recent times.

As gathered from Dailytrust, Yusuf while speaking during a media parley said the club is yet to formally receive the resignation of its ‘former’ manager, Abdullahi Adamu as the club chairman insisted that he and members of the club’s board only saw his resignation letter on social media.

“The truth of the matter is that politics, not just football politics but dirty partisan politics by some elements, has infiltrated the activities of Wikki Tourists. If you watched Wikki matches last season and this season, you would notice differences. This season you will be angry because referees cheated us in unlike last season when we didn’t even have quality players. We had good goals disallowed by referees," he said.

“Another tactic employed by the elements was deploying some people to cause trouble during our home matches so that we can be banned from our home.

“We have discovered some of the elements behind the plans to tarnish Wikki Tourists but I will not mention them now, especially those behind the last attack. They were inside the stadium when the unfortunate incident happened.

“They were eager to attack the referee so that the situation would escalate with a view to tarnishing the image of the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed,” Yusuf concluded on the matter.

Wikki Tourist lost their last league at home 2-1 to Bayelsa United and are in danger if relegation as they presently occupy the 9th place of the 10 teams group B log.

They visit high flying Doma United on Sunday.

Wikki Tourist have been hit with a heavy punishment for the misbehaviour of their fans in their match day 13 clash with Bayelsa United last Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium,, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Giant Elephants became the third club in the current season to be docked three points for violent conduct of fans in the course of a fixture following a ruling by the league body on Tuesday.

The match had been stopped abruptly  in the 62nd following violence actions by the home fans on Bayelsa United's officials and cameraman which was ignited by the assistant referee offside call. The match later ended 1-2 in favour of United.

In a Summary Jurisdiction Notice signed by Davidson Owumi the Head of Operations of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), the club received a monetary fine totalling ?2.5m, three points and three goals deduction and closure of their home stadium to fans for the rest of the season.

Wikki Tourists are required to within 48 hours communicate in writing to the IMC, submitting to the ruling or electing to be dealt with by a disciplinary Panel.

Abdullahi Adamu have thrown in the towel as Technical Adviser of  Nigeria Premier Football League side, Wikki Tourist a day after loss to Bayelsa United, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The UEFA B license Coach was appointed less than two months after Coach Kabiru Dogo left the club as head coach on mutual consent this season.

Adamu stated in a letter on Monday that the reason for his resignation is as a result of the club's management unhealthy interference in his job which has affected the club.

"You may wish to recall that since I assumed duty as Technical Adviser, I have not been accorded the opportunity to fully exercise the functions of the office of Technical Adviser due to the Management's interference and inability to take their responsibilities during league matches, which is a public knowledge.

This action of the management has rendered me helpless thereby affecting the recent performance of the Club and also threatening my career." He said.

Wikki Tourist that sit 9th on the group B log of the league will have to start shopping for a new coach for the third time this season.
